Tessanne Chin, was this week announced as a Digicel regional brand ambassador at an exclusive listening party held on the rooftop of Digicel’s Regional Headquarters in Kingston, Jamaica where she debuted songs from her upcoming album.
Chin became the first non-American contestant to enter and win The Voice where she mesmerised fans across the globe with her powerful vocal renditions under the mentorship of Adam Levine, lead singer of the American pop rock band, Maroon 5. Before entering the competition, she was the lead singer in the reggae rock band, Mile High, and was a back-up vocalist for popular reggae singer, Jimmy Cliff.
Excited to be joining the Digicel family, Tessanne said, “Winning The Voice was a dream come true for me and the last couple of months have just been a whirlwind of unforgettable experiences. Now, becoming a Digicel Brand Ambassador is the icing on the cake and I am looking forward to continuing to work with Digicel in promoting Caribbean culture through my music as well as continue supporting its many community-based initiatives across the region.”
Chin has always been a close friend of Digicel as she was featured in its initiatives such as the song, Rise Again, which was part of the Haiti earthquake relief effort and lent her musical expertise as a judge on its talent competition, Digicel Rising Stars. She will join Digicel’s list of regional ambassadors including global cricket stars, Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy, Kieron Pollard, Marlon Samuels and Sunil Narine, Olympic gold medallists and World Champions, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Usain Bolt – the world’s fastest man, along with cricket legends, Lance Gibbs and Sir Garfield Sobers.
Digicel Group Head of Sponsorship, James Wynne, said, “Digicel has always supported home-grown talent and so it was an easy decision for us to partner with Tessanne who graciously accepted our offer to become a regional brand ambassador. Her approachable personality, positive vibes and extraordinary talent make her a perfect fit as she shares the rich sounds of the Caribbean with her fans across the world. We are looking forward to bigger and better things to come from her in the very near future.”
