Digicel’s annual Duck Curry competition Tomorrow

Number 63 Beach, Corentyne, Berbice will come alive this Sunday when the Digicel Duck Curry Competition is held, which will see winners walking away with over $700,000 in cash and other prizes. The defending champions, Bombay Masala will be coming with full force to retain the title.

The first 20 groups to register will be a part of the completion on the day of the event. These include persons from across the country, including Berbice and Demerara.

Participants must have 1.5 kilograms (3.3 pounds) of duck meat which they are not allowed to clean and cut at home. It must be marinated and cooked at the venue. Participant must also bring their cooking utensils and ingredients.

A ready to use stove will be provided by the promoters. Registration forms can be uplifted at Digicel stores in New Amsterdam, Rose Hall and Corriverton, Berbice; Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara; and the City Mall, Georgetown. The competition starts at 11:00h and the judging will take place at 16:00h.

As the sun sets, the stage show commences with some of the best in chutney music. These include Trinidad’s singing sensations, Adesh Samaroo and Sally Sagram. A local artiste is also expected to perform. They will be backed by Crown Vibes International out of Berbice.

Make sure to come and be ready to party to the vibes and have an entire day filled with fun and laughter. There will also be a number of games for children, including bouncy castle, trampoline, merry-go-round and face painting, among others.

There will also be novelty events such as lime and spoon, bun eating completion, sack race and others where participants can win fabulous prizes.

Music will be provided by Crown Vibes International. The event is sponsored by Stag, Indi Curry, Sol Gas and Digicel. Admission is absolutely free.
