Beenie, Bounty collab on new single, ‘Legendary’

Dancehall artiste and producer Esco has produced the first official collaborative single featuring Bounty Killer and Beenie Man called ‘Legendary’. The song has been released under Bounty Killer’s Priceless Records, Beenie Man’s MDM Records and Esco’s Star Struck Records.

According to the producer, known for his hit record Tuck In Yu Belly and his work on Bling Dawg’s Kreech, he is humbled by his recent accomplishment.

“Part of what we are doing in music is to craft some powerful records that can reach the people and make a powerful impact. Both artistes are on good terms so we decided that the time was right. They loved the concept and I have a good relationship with them so they decided to do the song,” Esco said.

The producer also used the opportunity to encourage other persons in the music industry to avoid conflicts and music politics. According to Esco, if he had subscribed to dancehall politics he would not have been able to be a part of such a monumental moment in dancehall and reggae music.

“Both artistes will benefit from the production of this song under their respective record labels and this is just great for music. It is very humbling to know that I am the one who put two legends together, and it is something that I will be able to take to my grave. A documentary of the production process will also be released so that fans can see what went on behind the scenes,” he said.

Esco also disclosed that the song is already raising eyebrows internationally. The producer is currently being managed by Dela from Dangerzone, who also acts at CEO of Star Struck Records.

The release of Legendary sees the artistes officially ending a feud which surpassed two decades. Both deejays are regarded as legends in their own rights. Beenie Man received a Grammy Award for his Art and Life album in 2001, while Bounty Killer’s collaboration with No Doubt, Hey Baby, also received a Grammy Award in 2002 for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a duo or group. The effort was also certified platinum for selling over a million copies.
