Paul Charles was on Sunday evening crowned Mr Guyana International 2015 at the Pegasus Hotel. He outshone nine other contenders to cop the coveted title.
This stylish 28-year-old was born under the sign of Taurus. He is a teacher, dancer, and choreographer, and describes himself as determined and ambitious.
He has previously represented Guyana regionally and internationally, as the face of Carifesta 10 in 2008, while he was privileged to showcase his dance skills in countries such as Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Suriname, French Guiana, and the United States of America.
After venturing into the fashion industry in the early 2000s; in 2005, he participated in the Super Model Search, and then in 2006, he participated in the Shabeau Face-off competition and placed second. In 2008, he participated in the Guyana Model Search and was adjudged the third runner-up; in 2012, he tried to capture the Model Search title once more and placed third.
Turning to pageantry, he then participated in Mr Tourism United Nations Pageant in Jamaica and captured the first runner-up position and the prize for the best male dancer.
He now proudly wears the crown of Mr Guyana International 2015. The first runner-up spot went to 19-year-old Ryan Washington, with Lindener Colwyn Abrams copping the second runner-up position. The third runner-up spot went to Kevin Bhagrat, while the fourth runner-up was Alexander Fiedtkou.
Fiedtkou also copped the “Most Fit Male” Award, the People’s Choice Award and Mr Intelligent. The award for Best Talent and Mr Physique went to the newly-crowned king, while the Mr Congeniality prize went to Abrams. The Best Traditional Wear award went to Raphael Hiliger.
If all goes as planned, Charles will be representing Guyana next year at the Mr International Pageant in Korea.
