Hits and Jams premier event titled “Sun Sand and Water” slated for this weekend at the Water Park, Providence, East Bank Demerara. On Saturday July 4, patrons will experience the first ever ‘food festival’ on a beach setting which will feature chefs and cooks from a variety of countries. Admission to this event cost $2000 which will be redeemable in chits. One can enjoy the sumptuous meals being prepared by well qualified chefs that will see you begging for more. This event will be held during the day. On Sunday, July 5, the venue will be transformed into a fashion fiesta which will see designers; both locally and regionally, displaying their masterpieces followed by the Miss Jamzone International Pageant in the evening. Those vying for the title are Radiante Frank, Cardella Hamilton, Eksi Edwards, Treasure James, Carlene Waithe and Onica Rose. These young ladies will have an opportunity to introduce themselves via a three-minute presentation on one of Guyana’s tourism destinations. This will be followed by the swimsuit segment, comprising regular swimwear and the fantasy swimwear after which the delegates will clash head on for the evening gown segment and finally the intelligence segment. The pageant will commence as the sun sets and will go into the night. Patrons will pay $2000 to enter the venue. Finally, on Caricom day the event will culminate with a massive ‘Soka’ party which will feature several top soca artistes from Trinidad and Tobago including Lil Rick, Destra, Shal Marshall, Kerwin Dubois, 5 Star-Akil and Fadda Fox. The local line-up will see Jackie Jaxx; reigning Carib Soca Monarch, Jumo Primo; and Kwasi “Ace” Edmondson. With the line-up promised, patrons are expected to have a blast. Soca junkies, be prepared for one of the maddest shows featuring the best in soca rhythms. Admission cost $3000. Tickets will be available at the venue for all the events.
