The ‘Touch The Sky’ hitmaker caused the rumour mill to go into overkill after he collaborated with Bey on their hit number ‘Baby Boy’ back in 2003 but failed to perform the track with the beauty at the MTV VMAs.
Many speculated at the time that Jay-Z had a hand in blocking the Dancehall singer from performing with his now wife.
“It was not a big deal to me, but it really blew up into crazy stuff.” the Jamaican MC told RapFix Live.
“That’s a rumor that started. I’ve known Jay-Z from before I knew her,” he added.
Continuing to deny the rumoured rift, the MC also recalled a time when he met up with Jay-Z in his Roc-A-Fella office to seek advice on radio politics.
Speaking on why he kept schtum while the rumours continued to circulate, Sean Paul simply confessed there is no such thing as bad publicity.
“The general public blew it up in certain things. I just remained quiet about it for years because it was doing its work. There was just a lot of controversy,” he said.
Adding: “She’s an amazing artist, the song was at number1 for like nine weeks, so that was a very special time for me and for dancehall.”
