Digicel Guyana recently signed two young Guyana and West Indies cricketers Devendra Bishoo and Christopher Barnwell as Brand Ambassadors at the company’s office in Kingston.
Leg-spinner Bishoo’s contract as a Brand Ambassador was renewed, while all-rounder Barnwell is onboard with the telecommunication company for the first time.
Advertising Manager of Digicel, Ramesh Rupchand, outlined what is expected of the two cricketers during their tenure with the Bigger, Better Network.
“Basically they’re going to be featured in campaigns. We’re going to use them for interviews on social media, billboards and so on,” Rupchand highlighted.
He added, “As part of our agreement with them, we have thrown out to these guys that they need to do community projects, so as part of the contract they need to come up with community projects where we would be able to develop youths, charities…they choose, they come to us and we help them with those projects.”
Both cricketers, who are part of the Guyana Jaguars training camp ahead of the second installment of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Professional Cricket League Four-day tournament, expressed elation at being afforded the opportunity to represent the company. They promised to make the entity proud, both on and off the cricket field.
