usy Signal, through his Busy 2020 Helping Hands Foundation, is aiming to make a difference in the lives of several children within the community of Lower Buxton, St Ann, who are preparing to go back to school.
On Sunday the foundation will be staging a back-to-school community fun day at the Buxton All-Age School in St Ann.
“I feel compelled to have this treat because I’m from community and want to give back in a meaningful way. No child should be deprived of an education because they do not have backpacks, books or school supplies,” he told Splash.
“Getting all the supplies needed for back to school isn’t easy for a lot of parents, especially in rural Jamaica, so I decided to head to my hometown and try and give back to those who really need it… Education is the key and there are times when some people just need the help to get there,” said Busy Signal.
“We have to make sure the kids are ready and in good health to go back to school,” he continued.
Gates are slated to open at midday and it will be family entertainment, plus lots of giveaways for the children. One of the main aspects of the fun day is that all children will be able to receive a free medical check-up on site.
The dancehall artiste said it wasn’t an individual effort as he got some assistance from corporate Jamaica.
“Currently we have the following sponsors, but we are still looking and hoping that more sponsors will come on to assist with this event. We have also received donations from personal donors,” he said.
Sponsors include: Pepsi Jamaica, Chancellor Insurance Agency, Bahia Principe Resort, Island Leisure Tours and Excursions, All Signs Ltd, Spicy Nice, Wild Rides, Vivid Pixx, Mr Nash Stores, and Fontana Pharmacy.
