Kartel gets bail

Vybz Kartel was yesterday offered $500,000 bail on his perverting the course of justice charge in the Magistrate’s Court, Kingston Jamaica.

However, the artiste, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, will not be released as he’s being held in custody for one of two murder matters before the Home Circuit Court.

Kartel is to return to court on January 25 when the perverting the course of justice case will next be mentioned.

Kartel has been granted bail with sureties and is to report daily to the Constant Spring Police Station and surrender his travel documents.

The bail application was made by his attorney Chris Tavares-Finson.

Further documents are to be served by the prosecution on the defence.

He is charged along with Andre ‘Pim Pim’ Henry and fellow entertainer Vanessa ‘Gaza Slim’ Saddler, whose bails were extended.

The charge against the three arise out of allegations that they conspired to undermine the investigation into the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams in Havendale, St Andrew, for whose death Kartel and other men are to be tried in the High Court.

The other murder for which Kartel is to be tried is that of Barrington Bryan in Portmore, St Catherine. He’s on $3 million bail for that matter.
