Jumo ready to defend Carib Soca Monarch title

Defending Carib Soca Monarch Jumo “Rubber Waist” Primo is ready to defend his title on February 16, on the National Park Tarmac, promising “Fireworks”. With his tune “Fireworks”, he intends to create havoc on stage and set the National Park alight.
He explained that “Fireworks”, a high-energy song, is about to create history and “light up the whole place”.

Primo encouraged prospective audience members to walk with their lighters, torch lights, rags or anything to wave and get on bad. He is sure that after his performance, even the satellites will have the National Park on their radar.

The soca artiste commend the competition organiser ANSA McAL for implementing a quarter-final round in this year’s competition, explaining that it is a good addition which takes into consideration the magnitude of the contest. He said that the 22 quarter-finalists will have to step up to their A games and perform to perfection.

The quarter-finals are about creating hype which will definitely draw the interest of the public.  Primo said he was sure that the Lindeners would come out in their droves to be a part of the activity and have a grand time.

Primo will join the competition on February 16 where he is expected to compete against 12 soca contestants and says he does not underestimate any performer. The optimistic monarch intends to even better his 2012 performance. Last year, Primo’s entry was “One People, One Nation, One Destiny”, a patriotic song that was loved by fans; unfortunately, the Guyana-based tune did not make it in to the international leg of the competition.
“Everyone knows when you come to the National Park, whether you are a Jumo supporter or not, you come to enjoy yourself… I promise to make sure you have a grand time. This year, I also promise to bring it on.”

He encouraged the other competitors to perform to the best of their abilities for their supporters’ sake. He added that it is not all about the prize money, but rather making fans happy.

Primo also urged them not to bring negative vibes to the contest, noting that it was not about cutting each other’s throats but working together to “put up” a show while competing.

With respect to the people’s choice award, “Rubber Waist” feels he has what it takes to win the prize since he is an outgoing person. He said that the inclusion of a people’s choice award serves as motivation for him and his fellow contenders.

He also intends to participate in the 2013 Road March Song competition, with “Nosey People” which he said is about the people whose minds are bent on minding other people’s business.

Also for Mash 2013, persons can look out for the launch of the 592 clothing line which will bear the colours of the Golden Arrowhead and the country code.
