Carib Soca Monarch Finals Tomorrow

The Carib Soca Monarch is definitely picking up steam! Come this Saturday, it will be one night; one stage; one title and one winner from 18 competitors. Who will be crowned Carib Soca Monarch 2013?

This is the question that is lingering in the minds of the public since all the artistes are heading into the finals with lots of surprises.The stage of the National Park tarmac is all set for the grand finale which will either see the reigning soca monarch, Jumo “Rubber Waist” Primo retaining his title or a new monarch will be crowned.

The competition started with 33 applicants with 22 of them shortlisted for the quarter finals in Linden which saw the elimination of five competitors.

The semis, the following weekend was washed out as a result of heavy down pours. As a result all 17 contenders were given the green light to move into the finals slated for this Saturday.

From all indications, the top contenders likely to cop the coveted title are Adrian Dutchin; George Anthony Abrams; Vanilla and B52; Roger Bowen and former Soca Monarch, “Bonesman” following closely behind. Lil Red and King Shepherd also showed great potential. However, this will not be an easy task since the reigning king is all hyped and ready to defend his title with his entry, “Fireworks”. Only the judges can make the ruling.
To be a part of the explosion; persons can purchase their tickets at Colours Boutique, Robb Street; Exclusive Styles, Camp Street and Just Your Size Boutique at Orange Walk at $1200 each. Tickets cost more at the gate.

The finalists and their entries are: Adrian Dutchin with “Jook”; George Anthony Abrams with “Pose”; Colbert Dublin with “Shaking It”; Compton Boyce with “We Don’t Know”; King Shepherd with “More Wuk Up”; Ernesta Nelson with her entry called “Twirl”;   G-Money with his entry “Big Belly Vs Bumpa”; James Gordon with “Soca Mascara”; Jermaine MacBeen with “Storm The Road”;   Jonathan King with “Never stop”; Roger Bowen with “Looking Fuh Bumper”; Kwesi Edmondson with “Same Thing” and Shondel London with her piece titled “Hard Wuk”; Rawleston Warde with “Invasion”; Vanilla and B52 with “Tear De Roof”; Bonesman with his entry “Done Them” and ending the list is Quacy Coates with “Work It” and  the reigning Soca Monarch Jumo Primo will be hitting the stage with his entry “Fireworks”.
